Board of Trustees

​ The Institute shall have a Board of Trustees with the following constitutions:  

  1. The President of the Islamic Development Bank, who shall be the ex-officio Chairman of the Board of  Trustees;

  2. Two members​ from the Board of Executive Directors of the Islamic Development Bank; 

  3. Three members from the officials of the relevant institutions in the member countries, preferably one each in the fields of research, training and information; 

  4. Three experts of outstanding reputations in the fields of research, training and information;

  5. Two members from the Donors;

  6. The Director-General of the Institute (member and Secretary of the Board of Trustees). 

Members of the Board of Trustees shall be appointed by the President in consultation with the Board of Executive Directors.

The term of office of the members of the Board of Trustees shall be three yea (except ex-officio members).

The Board of Trustees shall function as an Advisory body to the Board of Executive Directors.

The Board of Trustees shall meet at least once a year.

​The functions of the Board of Trustees shall be as follows:  

  1. ​To review the financial position of the IRTI Fund and mobilize additional resources if and when needed;

  2. To give directives to the Management of IRTI regarding the working plan and the three- year resource allocation and the agenda of the Institute;

  3. Select two members from outside the IDB/IRTI to attend the meetings of the Board of Executive Directors which shall be held for approving the annual work program and budget of the Institute;

  4. To consider and review the annual budget of the institute before its submission to the Board of Executive Directors for approval;

  5. To raise financial resources for the Institute and accept grants from outside individuals, agencies and organizations with the approval of the Board of Executive Directors;

  6. To consider and review the plans and programs of the institute before they are submitted to the Board of Executive Directors for approval;

  7. To consider and review the annual report of the Institute before its submission to the Board of Executive Directors;

  8. To propose any amendments and/or additions to the rules and regulations and procedures of the Institute;

  9. The Board of Trustees may perform any other functions as may be decided by the Board of Executive Directors or as may be deemed necessary for achieving the objectives of the Institute.
