The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group and the Algerian Ministry of Post, Telecommunications, Technologies and Digitalization have jointly organized a training workshop on the practical uses of Fintech and blockchain technology.
The workshop, held in Algiers from 15 to 19 July 2018, followed discussions on collaboration in the field of information communication technology (ICT) and digitalization between the IsDB and the Algerian ministry. The ministry was represented in organizing the workshop by Saticom Company and National Agency of Promotion and Development of Technological Parks (ANPT).
IRTI Director General, Dr. Humayon Dar, said, "IRTI is delighted to partner with the agencies of the government of Algeria to develop capacity in Fintech and blockchain technology. This is part of our strategy to support IsDB member countries in the area of human capital development for the achievement of the countries' economic and social goals."
During her visit to the training workshop, the Minister of Post, Telecommunications, Technologies and Digitalization in Algeria, Dr. Houda Imane Faraoun, encouraged the participants to focus on the practical aspects of the new technologies because of their importance. The minister expressed appreciation to the participants and organizers of the program.
Thirty-four participants attended the workshop from telecom and ICT companies, universities, and financial institutions. The participants expressed interest in the technical and business aspects of blockchain and related technology, and the impact these have on the economic and social development of the country.
